Tumor-secreted lysophostatidic acid accelerates hepatocellular carcinoma progression by promoting differentiation of peritumoral fibroblasts in myofibroblasts.
This effect is mediated by up-regulation of specific genes related to a myo/contractile phenotype (ACTA2, CNN1,FN (ED-A containing), EDN1, MYL12A, TAGLN2) and inhibition of ACTG2 expression.
LPA induces fibroblast proliferation.
